(dimensions in millimeters) frontsideview cellsize frontsideviewdetails backsideviewdetails moisturesensitivity,reflowsolderingandwashing information ixys has characterized the moisture reflow sensitiv ity of the solarmd using ipc/jedec standard j-std-0 20. moisture uptake from atmospheric humidity occurs by diffusion. during th e solder reflow process, in which the component is attached to the pcb, the whole body of the component is exposed to high process te mperatures. the combination of moisture uptake and high reflow soldering temperatures may lead to moisture induced delaminat ion and cracking of the component. to prevent this, this component must be handled in accordance with ipc/jedec standard j-std -020 per the labeled moisture sensitivity level (ms l), level 1. ixys does not recommend the use of chlorinated solvents. surfaceprotectionfilm please be advised that slmd module is normally cove red with protection film by factory to prevent it f rom scratch or dirt during the transportation, therefore it is highly recommended to remove the protection film at the end of your wo rk. especially when slmd should go through the high temperature process or e nvironment, the film should be removed in advance. if protection film is not wanted, please consult with us.
ixys reserves the right to change limits, test conditio ns and dimensions ? 2010 i xys all rights reserved ixys korea ltd. 4 ixys corporation 906-5 iui-dong, yeongtong-gu, suwon, gyeonggi-do (k orea) 1590 bu ckeye drive, milpitas, ca 95035-7418 phone +82-31-888-5232, fax +82-31-888-5233 rev.jan. 2011 phone (408 ) 457-9000, fax 408-496-0670 background some basic information needs to be covered to better under stand what to expect in terms of the solarmds performance with regards to solar cell type, lighting cond itions in terms of power density, and general industry standards as they rel ate to battery charging. solar cell types keep in mind these cost and performance tradeoffs when compa ring various solar cell materials: polycrystalline cells are commonly found in outdoor applications and have a spectral sensitivity range of 500nm to 1100nm. theyre in the medi um price range and typically offer a 13% power conversion efficiency. monocrystalline cells, such as the ixys solarmd , have a spectral sensitivity range from 300 nm (near-ultraviolet) to 1100 nm (near-infrared), w hich includes visible light (400 to 700 nm). due to this wide spectral range, they can be used in both indo or and outdoor applications. monocrystalline or single-crystalline material is the m ost expensive but it does not contain impurities, and as such the power conversion efficiency do es not degrade over operating time. the power conversion efficiency of commercially available monocrystalline cells ranges from 15 to 22%. the surface of these cells is a homogenous dark bl ue or dark grey. finally, amorphous cells, which work in the spectral range of 300nm to 600nm, ar e used predominantly indoors in products such as solar powered cal culators since they are not sensitive to the upper light spectrum and cannot take advant age of natural sunlight. they offer about 5% power conversion efficiency and are mostly us ed with ultra low power devices like clocks and electronic calculators. amorphous cells, like polycrystalline cells, suffer from efficiency degradation.
